Danzan Ryu Jujitsu (ages 13 and up)
Learn the art of Japanese Jujitsu used by the Samurai Warriors of Feudal Japan. Our style of Jujitsu is the Danzan Ryu system of Japanese Jujitsu founded and developed by Professor Henry S. Okazaki. Jujitsu is the Japanese martial art of self defense that teaches techniques that are used to neutralize an attacker. Jujitsu having ancient origins going back to the time when the use of weapons was impractical or forbidden; students learn throwing techniques, escapes from holds, joint locks, arm bars, chokes, wrist twists, ground work, and applying holds to control an opponent that can be larger and stronger then themselves. Through the process of learning self defense techniques, our students develop strength, increase endurance, confidence, and self-esteem.
Students learn and progress at their own rate through personalized instruction based on their individual strengths and weaknesses. All students practice techniques with a partner, of the same skill level, and with a black belt instructor who will guide and assist you with your individual progress. The class is designed for everyone ages 13 and up.
We teach and practice Danzan Ryu Jujitsu which is Japanese Jujitsu, not to be confused with Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. In both they are used defensively, but just like everything that has similar names they are different. Some differences between Jujitsu and Jiu-jitsu are very subtle and then some are more profound. If you have any questions about the difference between Jujitsu and Jiu-jitsu feel free to email us and ask.
